The summer weather is great when you’re outside and enjoying life. But for those spending their days working in and around a warehouse, it can get a little uncomfortable. If you’re managing a warehouse or loading dock, it’s critical that you keep things cool for your workers

After all, the summer heat isn’t just uncomfortable, it’s dangerous.

The good news is, by taking the right action steps, you can ensure a positive working environment for your team year-round. Here are a few ways to cool things down and keep your warehouse healthy.

Industrial Ceiling Fans

Air circulation can be a struggle for warehouses, especially those with high ceilings. One of the best ways to keep temperatures in control is with large-scale, industrial sized fans on your ceiling. It’s not enough to pump cool air into the room.

You need to move it around.

Industrial sized fans will do just that.

Vinyl Curtains

Though they can sometimes be a pain to push through continuously, vinyl curtains do a fantastic job of maintaining indoor temperatures on loading bay doors. While they’re most often seen keeping cold air inside freezers, they do an equally great job keeping hot air outside.

Get Your Air Conditioning Inspected

Many people assume that since their air conditioning is running, it’s fully operational. But air conditioners collect a lot of dust and build-up over the course of the warm months, dramatically reducing their efficiency.

Your air-conditioning should be inspected, cleaned, and serviced every year. If you haven’t done so yet, call your HVAC company and have an inspection scheduled.

High Speed Doors

In most warehouses, the biggest culprit for letting hot air in and cold air out is highly trafficked loading bay doors. For places where vinyl curtains may not be practical, high-speed overhead doors can make a noticeable difference.

Not only do these doors open and close quickly, but they’re insulated, further maintaining temperatures. Despite the high speeds, they’re also very safe, easily resetting if they’re hit or face resistance.

Keep Your Team Hydrated and Your Warehouse Safe

Hydration is always important, but in the summer, it’s non-negotiable. Though you may fear sounding like someone’s mother, make sure your team is drinking adequate amounts of water. Hand out water bottles if necessary.
